Title 25 Environmental Resources
Chapter 73 Standards for Sewage Disposal Facilities

January 1997

Onsite regulations for Pennsylvania were last amended January 18, 1997.  Currently, Chapter 72 Sec. 72.54(a) is being revised with an effective date of July 1, 1999.  There are no plans to update the complete regulations within the next year.  The subject of performance based standards has been discussed; however, no immediate plans have been made to implement these types of standards.

Aerobic treatment units (ATUs), alternative soil absorption designs, mounds, sand filters, and spray systems are approved in the current regulations.
