Appalachian
Regional Commission (ARC)
The
ARC assists with economic, physical, and social development
of the 13-state, 406-county Appalachian region. ARC
strengthens local governments, creates jobs, encourages private
investment in the region, and develops infrastructures for
community and industrial water and sewer systems.
It
helps the region's poorest counties meet critical needs in
areas, such as safe drinking water and waste disposal.
ARC
serves all of West Virginia and portions of Alabama,
Georgia, Kentucky, Maryland, Mississippi, New York, North
Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee,
and Virginia.
Association of State Drinking
Water Administrators (ASDWA)
ASWDA is the professional association that represents the
collective interests of the nation's state drinking water
programs.
Council of Infrastructure
Financing Authorities (CIFA)
CIFA is a national, nonprofit organization of state and local
authorities that provides water and wastewater loans and bonds
to meet infrastructure needs. It provides a communications
network for exchanging information and ideas on public funding
mechanisms

Development Agencies (COSCDA)
COSCDA is a national association that promotes states' common
interests for comprehensive community and economic development.
COSCDA serves as a liaison between states and federal agencies
involved in community development.

(CSG)
CSG is a national organization that supports excellence in
state government.
Farm*A*Syst
Farmstead Assessment System, available in 40 states, helps
farmers and rural residents evaluate water pollution risks
from structures and management practices.
Home*A*Syst
Related to Farm*A*Syst, this program helps homeowners and
renters identify problems and take action to reduce pollution
risks. It covers topics including water conservation, surface
water contamination, lead contamination, and septic systems.
International City/County Management
Association (ICMA)
ICMA promotes excellence in local government through professional
management. ICMA provides an information clearinghouse, technical
assistance, and training and professional development to nearly
8,000 administrators, assistant administrators, and other
individuals throughout the world.
League
of Women Voters Education Fund
The
League of Women Voters provides local and state Leagues, as
well as the wider
public, with information and educational services on elections
and on current public policy issues.
Local Government Environmental Assistance
Network (LGEAN)
LGEAN provides environmental management, planning, funding,
and regulatory information for local government elected and
appointed officials, managers, and staff.

Department of Natural Resources EMI Software
The Missouri Department of Natural Resrouces (DNR) developed

(NACo)
NACo provides research and reference services for county officials,
represents county governments and officials, and offers a
strong voice in the nation's capital.
National Association of County
and City Health Officials (NACCHO)
NACCHO is a nonprofit membership organization that pursues
excellence in public health practices and promotes partnerships
between local, state, and federal agencies.
National Association of Development
Organizations (NADO)
NADO is a public interest group working to assure that all
rural citizens have equal access to employment opportunities
and a quality of life comparable to other Americans.
National Association of Regional
Councils (NARC)
NARC is a nonprofit membership organization serving the
interests of regional councils and metropolitan planning organizations
nationwide.
National Center for Small
Communities (NCSC)
NCSC is a national, nonprofit organization devoted to
serving the leaders of America's smaller communities. It provides
small town decision makers with tools to govern effectively
and skills to expand local economies, protect natural resources,
and preserve community character.
National Congress of American
Indians (NCAI)
The NCAI is the oldest and largest tribal government organization
in the US. NCAI serves as a forum for consensus-based policy
development among its membership of more than 250 tribal governments.
Indian Nations are sovereign governments.
National League of Cities (NLC)
The NLC is the oldest and largest national organization representing
municipal governments throughout the US. Its mission is to
strengthen and promote cities as centers of opportunity, leadership,
and governance.
National Rural Water Association (NRWA)
The NRWA is a nonprofit federation of State Rural Water Associations.

associations with more than 22,000 water and wastewater systems

(RCAC)
The RCAC's core services include technical assistance and
financing for affordable housing, environmental infrastructure,
and community facilities.

RCAP's mission is to help rural people improve the quality
of life in their communities.
Pennsylvania Resources Council (PRC)
A nonprofit citizens' action organization founded in 1939,
PRC serves as a vital link between industry, government and
grass-roots organizationsinitiating dialogue between
these groups to find solutions to environmental problems.
Small Towns Environment
Program (STEP)
STEP provides rural communities with a method to find reasonable,
low-cost solutions to solving wastewater problems. STEP is
a cooperative partnership among the community, the New York
Department of Ecology, and the Rensselaerville Institute of
New York.
TACNET
[EPA Technical Assistance Center Network]
The small public water systems TAC form a network with
a goal of protecting public health, improving water system
sustainability, and enhancing compliance.
TACs
apply university resources to address the needs of rural and
small public water systems or public water systems that serve
Indian Tribes in the areas of technology verification, pilot
and field testing innovative technologies, and training and
technical assistance.
U.S. Department
of AgricultureRural Utilities Service (RUS)
RUS provides loans, grants and loan guarantees for drinking
water, sanitary sewer, solid waste and storm drainage facilities
in rural areas and cities and towns serving fewer than 10,000
people.
