Asset Management: A New Frontier for Utilities

Environmental Trainers Address Need For Asset Management Training
The current push by the U.S. EPA and Congress to have water and wastewater utilities implement asset management is creating new opportunities for environmental trainers. Jean Holloway, training manager for the Environmental Finance Center at the University of Maryland, and Carl Brown, a trainer with the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, share their perspectives on asset management training.

New Report to Document Small Community Environmental Training Needs
A report soon to be released by NETCSC takes an in-depth look at the environmental training needs of small communities and offers some valuable conclusions and insights that will be useful to those who work with small communities.

2004 Environmental Training Institute Assists Environmental Professionals
NETCSC's fifth annual Environmental Training Institute featured 17 different training sessions taught by nationally respected faculty in four different training tracks-drinking water, wastewater, managing and protecting assets, and finance.

Preparing For the Unexpected... Security Training Materials Now Available
The National Environmental Training Center for Small Communities’ (NETCSC) newest training package focusing on security for small water systems is now available for purchase by trainers, technical assistance providers, and others interested in security–related issues. Preparing for the Unexpected: Security for Small Water Systems is designed to provide tools and strategies to assist communities in complying with new federal regulations concerning vulnerability assessments and emergency response plan requirements for public water systems, as well as to assist small systems in improving security and emergency management capabilities.
