The Emergency Community Water Assistance Grant program “helps eligible communities prepare for, or recover from an emergency that threatens the availability of safe, reliable drinking water for households and businesses.” Emergencies include drought, floods, earthquake, tornado or hurricane, disease outbreak, chemical spills or leaks, and other disasters. Eligible applicants are most state and local governments, nonprofit organizations, and federally recognized tribes in eligible areas (rural areas and towns with 10,000 or fewer people, tribal lands in rural areas, and colonias that meet median household income criteria).
